Dining Out

This weekend I attended a dinner party with my boyfriend and some of our closest friends at school.  It took place at the Lowe's Hotel in downtown Annapolis, MD which was only 3 blocks away from the Westin where my friends and I were staying. We got ready in our hotel and then took the shuttle over to where they were having the reception.  I'll admit we had had a few drinks by the time we arrived, so it was a little challenging to be on our best behavior in front of all the guests.

keeping it classy

I love them all :)
Earlier on in the week I realized I didn't have a dress to wear so I started to panic and called a number of my friends asking if they had something suitable to wear. Unfortunately, no one had anything that was small enough to fit my chest (story of my life) so I was forced to go out and buy one on Friday. 5 hours and 12 stores later, I had two dresses. The one I really liked wasn't really formal enough so I chose the one below. I'm very happy with my choice but I decided to keep the other dress as well...because, you know, a girl can never have to many LBD's.

all the lovely ladies

looking good in our "uniforms" :)

There was an open bar (bad news for our crowd) and a slide show of pictures of everyone in attendance. The dinner was very yummy and I even had two servings of dessert (which was delicious chocolate cake)...can you blame me? I didn't want to waste Neil's! The underclassmen did skits about the upperclassmen which were very funny and we had a great speaker that kept the crowed laughing.  The night ended all too soon and after a few short dances, everyone left for bars downtown.

Neil and I only stayed out at one bar and then decided to go back to our hotel room because we were just too tired to stay out.

It was such a great night and I'm so thankful that I got to share it with Neil and the rest of our friends. I'm starting to realize how close graduation is and it makes me sad to think that soon I won't be with these great people anymore. That's why we better make the most of it and live it up!!

Saturday Afternoon in Annapolis

I woke up around 12:00 this afternoon which is something I rarely do because I feel like I'm wasting the day. However, it was a long week full of exams so I probably needed the sleep. Being a 3-day weekend, most of my school has run off to some exciting destination but I am here just relaxing and trying to catch up on some homework.  Today however,  I decided to take a break and walk around down town Annapolis. It was such a pretty day out (probably on 50 degrees) and very sunny.  I haven't taken any photographs lately which is something I love, so I grabbed my camera and took a walk. Here's a few of the lovely houses and such that I saw around town.

Even if you don't have a special someone and you find yourself alone today,
Grab a book or a favorite movie and snuggle up on the couch with your favorite flavor of icecream.

Or

Go around a nearby neighborhood to snatch up all the flowers and packages at peoples front doors and put yourself into a sugar comma from eating too much stolen chocolate.

Or

Walk around town and tell random strangers that you love them (watch the uneasy looks on their faces...it's priceless).

No matter what it is you do to celebrate February 14th, I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's day!!

Brews and Bowling

Me and Neil
This weekend I went out with a group of my friends to dinner and bowling. Why bowling you ask? Well I'm not to sure who came up with the idea but I'm glad they did because we had a blast!  I'm not terribly good at bowling...actually I kinda suck, but it was still very fun.  There was a pretty big group of us as well so we split up into two groups: boys v.s girls. The boys ended up winning but honestly, I wasn't to unhappy about losing the title of "bowling champion".

While we were at bowling, it started for the first time this winter. It was coming down really hard and actually stuck! Unfortunately, I had to drive because I was the DD but being from Florida, I've never actually driven in snow. However, I am happy to report that I did NOT crash Dan's car and we all made it back to down town safely. We finished the night at our favorite bar, Pussers and when I woke up this morning, Neil had gotten me these beauties for Valentines Day :) Isn't he the greatest?

Super Bowl Sunday (or saturday rather)

Today in preparation for the Superbowl, I decided to go to a friend's house and bake cupcakes . Unfortunately, my car, "Henry", decided that he was going to be lazy and wouldn't start. Mind you, this is not the first time this has happened so when he wouldn't start even after we tried to revive him with some jumper-cables, I decided that it was time to get him a check-up. Soooo, my morning started out with me freezing my butt off in the 40-degree weather while I waited for the tow truck to arrive.

I look pretty happy despite the circumstances...

Poor Henry...

When I finally got my car taken away (3 hours later), Neil let me borrow his so that I could still accomplish everything I had planned for the day.  I finally made it to my friends house and immediately started to bake because I hadn't really eaten anything yet and a cupcake sounded pretty darn good.  They turned out a little bigger than I expected (though I'm not exactly a world-class baker) but they were at least not burnt or anything horrible like that.  Oh I forgot, these are strawberry cupcakes with cream-cheese frosting...not sure if the guys will like these but I figure they'll just be psyched to have something to eat during the game. Speaking of which....I am a newly converted Pats fan (Neil is from Worcester, Mass) so I'm really hoping they win this year or I'm going to have a real Debby-downer as a bf for the next month.  I'm sure it will be a very interesting game, though I'm mostly looking forward to the commercials...
Anyways, GO PATS!!!!
What can I say? I'm an artist.

One year of happiness!

Last weekend Neil and I celebrated out 1 year anniversary! It was very exciting for me because the longest I've ever dated anyone was about 6-7 months and it's also a big milestone for Neilly and me.  We commemorated the evening by going to dinner at an Italian restaurant called Filomena in Washington D.C. It was special to us because that's where we went on our first official date!  The food was soooo delicious especially because they make their own pasta and bread. THEN at the end of the meal, they bring a bottle of Sambuca and a bottle of Amaretto.  I also learned that you're supposed to put 3 coffee beans in your shot of Sambuca for good luck! But, I didn't drink any because it was just too strong and I didn't want to ruin my dinner.

Neil also surprised me with a BEAUTIFUL sterling silver and 14K gold "Cape Cod bracelet".  Apparently they are really popular in New England and only people who live there or have visited have heard of them.  I love mine so much that I don't even take it off to shower!

It was such a wonderful day and I'm so lucky and blessed to have Neil in my life. I can't wait for all the other fun, exciting years we have ahead of us!!
