Spring Bizzle

I can't believe that it is already the middle of March...Spring Break crept up on me but it couldn't have come at a better time.  I've been so bogged down with school work and other personal issues lately that I was about ready to pull my hair out if I didn't get a break.  Instead of going to some flashy destination such as Cancun or the Bahamas, I opted to go home.  Although to be fair, I do live in South Florida which is itself a vacation destination for some people.  I really wanted some time alone and lots of peace and quiet to catch up on my sleep and what-not.  However...Neil surprised me two days after I arrived home but to be honest, I'm very glad he did.  I was only home for 2 days but I didn't have any plans, none of my friends were home, and my parents were working so I quickly became bored.   Neil got my family in on the surprise so while I was on my way to brunch with my family, my dad got a call from one of his drivers (I guess I should have prefaced this by saying that he owns a limousine service) saying that his car had broken down and we needed to go pick up his costomer from the airport.  Well, I was very hungry and not to thrilled with the detour of picking up a "4 foot 9 inch woman in a pink and orange dress" from the airport.  As I scanned the crowed I suddenly spotted my 6'7 boyfriend standing there and did a double-take because I was sure that I was hallucinating. Alas, I was not...another great surprise from the sneakiest boyfriend ever!

We were only at my house for a day when two of our friends called from Orlando and invited us to drive up and stay with them for one night.  It was only a three hour drive so we hopped in the car and drove to their little villa right in the center of tourist central.  The first day we were there we went to Sea World which was nice because it was free for military personnel.   We saw the Shamu show which was awesome but my favorite part was seeing all the animals in their tanks.

He's got a thing for sharks...

The NEXT day, we went to....wait for it...HARRY POTTER WORLD!!! My dream come true. And it was so realistic. If everyone had been wearing capes and was carrying a wand, I would have thought that I actually was in the English country-side about to go to potions class.  I almost brought my wand from home (yes...I have one) and tied a black blanket around my neck, but Neil insisted that he wouldn't walk around with me if I did so I chose not to embarrass him. It was pretty crowded but the lines were worth the wait.  I stood in line for butter-beer for about 45 minutes but the reward was two variations of the best drink ever. (In my opinion, the soda version was better, but the slushy was also very good).

We drove back that night and fell asleep almost immediately upon returning home...It had been a long and exciting two days.  Neil left a day later so I spent the rest of my break lounging by the pool (although not getting very tan, sadly), volunteering at the Humane Society, and watching chickflicks with my mom while we each ate a pint and a half of ice cream in our pj's (true story).

It was a pretty fun break and I must say I was not ready to return to school yesterday but somehow, I'm surviving.  Only 2 months to go until graduation....
